Here's How To Know When To Say Goodbye To A Fashion Piece

Create space for your forever pieces, with one only decision. The journey to a perfect capsule wardrobe starts with the first “no”. While the dream for unlimited closet space is still alive and well, it’s important to approach fashion with intention. There could be a lot of reasons why something isn’t a good fit for your wardrobe. Have a moment with those pieces and reflect on the joy they’ve brought, but, it’s time to move on when a piece is sitting at the back of the closet. Not being worn for months or years. Clothes will continue to hold on to stagnant energy.

When Something Has The Wrong Fit

Hundreds of seconds are wasted every day from pulling here and there on an ootd. You will always feel insecure in fashion that doesn’t fit. If a trip to the tailor doesn’t fix the problem (or budget!), then it’s simply not meant to be. You’re wondering why it looked right on the model or on the dressing room, but it didn’t have a chance to live life with you yet. No outfit is worth constant readjusting, the point is for the outfit to look good and bring you comfort. You don’t need to compromise on a piece simply because you see its potential.

When Something is the Wrong Color

The right colors supercharge your ootd style. It’s completely valid to love a color, love it on someone else, love it on your accessories. But, still not have it look the way you intended in the outfit. It’s also super important to consider the shade of the color. You can wear red, it’s time to hunt for the right kind of red. If you keep coming up empty, remember that accessories can be the statement of the outfit. There’s been enough time to look at that piece in the closet. Keep an eye out for the right shade of that color. You’ll know when it makes bright and airy without washing out complexion. Fashion and makeup cross paths when it comes to undertones!

The Fashion Piece That Needs to be Repurchased

A good ootd fashion piece always leads to a better one. This piece has served you well and made a lot of memories. The thing is, it’s time for retirement. When wearing this piece, look closely in the mirror. What do you like about it? The way it hugs on your body, or drapes over? The color? The cut? Quizzing yourself with well-worn pieces is how you find out what is flattering. So much of personal style is leaning into what’s flattering on the body. If you’re noticing a brand over and over, make sure to sign up to their rewards to maximize your dime and style!
